Carbon Footprint Audit for Solstad 2010
For the second time, a full Carbon Footprint analysis has been done for Solstad by a 3rd party. This report states Solstad's carbon emissions calculated according to the international standard Greenhouse Gas Protocol Initiative (GHG protocol) and ISO 14064-I.
The total CO2 emission equivalents for 2010 was 422 630 tonnes. This includes air travels, use of rental cars, waste from both shore locations and vessels, electricity and the fleet fuel consumption.
The main contributor is the fleet fuel consumption which stands for 99% of the total emission.
The CO2 emissions in 2010 shows an increase by 20% from 2009. However, as the Solstad fleet has grown considerable over the last year, the emission (and energy/fuel consumption) per vessel was reduced by 11,7% in the same period. Some of this reduction may be related to less activity, but the main portion is related to the well implemented campaign 'Solstad Green Operations' and the vessel crew's high focus on fuel consumption.
