Greenest Ship Award for Q4 and Annual award 2010

Once again, Normand Drott won the ‘Greenest Ship Award’ for Q4 of 2010 with a total of 227 'Solstad Green Operations' registered. This is a new quarterly record! On the places behind the winner we find Normand Jarl, Normand Pioneer, and Normand Corona. They all have 100 or more fuel saving SGO’s!

Updated:08.04.2011

We congratulate the crew on Normand Drott on their award to their welfare fund. Thanks to all of you onboard who participated!
The crew on Normand Drott have in an exemplary way, since the launch of the SGO campaign in September 2009, utilized almost the entire register of 'Green Operations'!

Greenest Ship of the Year award

In addition to winning the previous two Quarterly competitions, Normand Drott also won the ‘Greenest Ship of the Year’ award! The reporting period was September 2009 to September 2010

The crew on Normand Jarl and Normand Drott competed closely to get this award for a long time. It will be interesting to see how both vessels perform with the new reporting categories etc. in 2011.

Again, congratulations to the crew on Normand Drott!

Fleet result SGO campaign 2010

For the entire fleet, another record high number of SGO’s were registered in Q4 2010 with a total of 2,169. The reported estimated fuel saving was 5,386 m3 or about 12% of the total fleet fuel consumption.

The good result for Q4 2010 means that Solstad will support the Rainforest Foundation for preservation of an additional 2,169,000 m2 of rainforest area for one year. The rainforest area preserved totally for 2010 equals now more than 6,552,000 m2, an area equal to the size of almost 1,000 football fields!

This also means that the annual SGO goal for 2010 has been reached!
A total of 6,552 SGO’s was registered by December 31st. The CO2 contained in a rainforest area this size equals the entire annual fleet CO2 emission.
A few more vessels have now achieved the target of 185 SGO’s in 2010 and will therefore soon receive the SGO flag. These are:

  • Normand Ferking
  • Normand Cutter
  • Normand Corona
  • Normand Master
  • Normand Titan

A Solstad vessel sailing under the green flag shows that her crew have high focus on fuel efficient operations in their day to day work.

The vessels: Drott, Jarl, Installer, Clipper, Pioneer, Progress, Skipper and Trym have all also received this flag in 2010.
