Normand Drott once again won the quarterly SGO contest 1st Quarter of 2011
Yet again, Normand Drott managed to win the ‘Greenest Ship Award’ with a total of 190 'Solstad Green Operations' registered! On the places behind the winner we find Normand Skipper, Normand Jarl, Normand Mjolne and Normand Cutter witch all have 100 or more SGO’s!

For the 3rd time, we congratulate the crew on N. Drott on their award (NOK 5,000) to their welfare fund. Thanks again to all of you onboard who participated!
To further encourage all to register SGO's, we will from Q2 2011 start awarding the crew on the 3 best vessels with our brand new SGO T-shirt! This award comes in addition to the 5,000 NOK for the number one vessel.
The Q1 fleet result shows a record high number of SGO’s registered this quarter. A total of 2,229 fuel reducing operations has been registered. The reported estimated fuel saving was 7,039 m3 which equals a fuel saving of 16.5% of the total fleet fuel consumption.
The average fuel consumption used per vessel per day is now close to 10.5 m3 whereas before the campaign was launched the corresponding consumption was about 13.2 m3 per vessel. This is a considerable improvement! It will be interesting to see if this number increases as the activity is expected to be high this summer.
A real fuel saving of this size means 19,000 tons of reduced CO2 emission and about 35 million NOK in fuel cost savings this quarter. We also expect this to result in 2-5 million NOK in maintenance savings.
This quarters SGO's also means that the Solstad will support the Rainforest Foundation for preservation of an additional 2,229,000 m2 of rainforest area for one year.
The Q2 2011 campaign has already started so there is another opportunity for those of you who want to show that you operate ships in a cost effective and environmentally friendly way and at the same time contribute a little extra income to the welfare fund onboard!
It looks like the revised SGO campaign with registration of instant saving in 'kW' or 'ltr/hr' together with time from/to is well understood and implemented onboard every vessel.
The next winner will be published first week of July 2011.
