Updated:16.07.2010

We have chosen a winner of the ‘Greenest Ship Award’ for 2nd quarter of 2010 and once again, with a total of 150 'Green Operations' registered; N. Progress got the victory, followed by the N. Pioneer, N. Drott, N. Titan and N. Trym.

We congratulate the crew on N. Progress on their award (NOK 5,000) to their welfare fund and thanks to all of you who participated for your efforts!

The crew on N. Progress have this time, in an exemplary way, used the entire register of 'Green Operations'. The vessel’s fuel consumption in this quarter has dropped about 13% compared to the same quarter in 2009 (-328 m3). We expect that the campaign is contributing factor here.

For the entire fleet, the number of 'Green Operations' registered in 2Q2010 reached an all time high with a total of 1,550 'Green Operations' done. This resulted in an estimated fuel saving of 4,840 m3 or about 13% of the total fuel consumption.

A real fuel saving of this size means 13,000 tons of reduced CO2 emission and about 20 mill NOK in fuel cost savings this quarter.

In addition, Solstad will support the Rainforest Foundation for preservation of 1,550,000m2 of rainforest area for one year. This equals an area larger than 200 football fields.

The 3Q2010 campaign has already started so there is another opportunity for those of you who want to operate ships in a more environmentally friendly way and at the same time contribute a little extra income to the welfare fund onboard!

The next winner will be published first week of October 2010.
