Normand Drott became the greenest vessel for 4th Quarter of 2010

Once again, Normand Drott won the ‘Greenest Ship Award’ for Q4 of 2010 with a total of 227 'Solstad Green Operations' registered. This is a new quarterly record! On the places behind the winner we find Normand Jarl, Normand Pioneer, and Normand Corona. They all have 100 or more SGO’s!

Updated:14.01.2011

We congratulate the crew on N. Drott on their award (NOK 5,000) to their welfare fund. Thanks to all of you onboard who participated!

The crew on N. Drott have in an exemplary way, since the launch of the SGO campaign in September 2009, utilized almost the entire register of 'Green Operations'!

For the entire fleet, a record high number of SGO’s were registered in Q4 2010 with a total of 2,169 fuel reducing operations done. The reported estimated fuel saving was 5,336 m3 or about 13% of the total fleet fuel consumption.

A real fuel saving of this size means 15,000 tons of reduced CO2 emission and about 22 millilion NOK in fuel cost savings this quarter.

For Q4 2010, Solstad will support the Rainforest Foundation for preservation of an additional 2,169,000m2 of rainforest area for one year. The rainforest area preserved totally for 2010 equals now an area close to 1,000 football fields!

The Q1 2011 campaign has already started so there is another opportunity for those of you who want to show that you operate ships in a cost effective and environmentally friendly way and at the same time contribute a little extra income to the welfare fund onboard!

Please note that most of the compaign categories have now changed. It is now the instant saving in 'kW' or 'ltr/hr' together with time from/to that must be registered, not total saving.

The next winner will be published first week of 2011.

We are looking forward to continue the good cooperation in the New Year!

Keep up the good work!
